You should be! Only a few inches of water are the fatal cause of unintentional drowning in 1-4 year olds every year in South Florida according to Florida vital statistics data. This is every parents' nightmare. But it doesn't have to be this way, if your child is enrolled in an infant and child swimming program at an early age.
A few weeks ago when I was an exhibitor at the TLS health fair in Delray Beach, I came in contact with a lovely lady who teaches little ones aged 6 months to 6 years rescue swimming. With pride and love for her students, she showed me videos demonstrating her students' successes and explained that it only takes 10 minutes a day for them to learn the different skills. Her enthusiasm was tremendous, and as a former school teacher displayed a passion for her students and everything water.
